Advances in IBD 2022 – Conference Agenda – October 29th 2022 – Sheraton Hotel, West Des Moines

About the Conference

Parents and families with a loved one or friend diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease or Ulcerative Colitis.

When you first learn about Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), it is natural to feel overwhelmed. You need answers to so many questions: Will I be able to work, travel, exercise? Could my medication have side effects? Should I be on a special diet? How will others react to my illness?

Learning all you can is an important step toward taking charge of your life. “Advances in IBD 2022” is an inspirational program that will help you do just that – take charge of your life.

This one-day program features presentations by prominent health care professionals in the fields of medical and surgical treatments of IBD.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to speak with an infusion nurse specialist, a dietician, ostomy care professionals and a representative regarding currently enrolling clinical trials at the IBD Center.

In addition, on-site exhibitors will showcase their newest products and services.

Register online by October 20th, 2022.

Keynote Speaker 2022- TBD

2019’s Keynote Speaker – Megan Starshak, has been a UC patient since 2002, and has been active in the IBD community for over a decade. She has been as steady volunteer with the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation’s Camp Oasis, as well as Team Challenge and Take Steps.

Her role at camp led her to co-found The Great Bowel Movement, a grassroots non-profit that fosters patients through the journey to openness, and provides tools to share patient stories, promoting an empowered community, with better IBD awareness. The Great Bowel Movement has grown to an online community of over 10,000, and hundreds of patients and caregivers can be seen wearing ‘Ask Me About my Crohn’s’ style shirts. Her blog, “The Great Bowl Movement” covers everything from overcoming struggles to celebrating small victories. Megan inspires those battling IBD in an honest and transparent way.

Megan lives in the Milwaukee area with her boyfriend, and works full time in marketing and design. She’s also an active cyclist and runner, and occasionally makes it to yoga class. She spends as much time as possible with her dog, hiking, walking, playing, and eating.
